Sermon: 5,000 Reasons More | Pastor Jared Townley | Sixth Sunday of Easter

This week’s message begins with a simple, but engaging question about Oreo cookies: if you saw a cookie jar sitting on the kitchen countertop with only a few cookies remaining would you be more likely to eat the cookies? Or wait and save the cookies for later? This is meant to illustrate two mindsets: scarcity and abundance, through the lens of how one views a nearly empty cookie jar. Pastor Jared draws parallels to faith and stewardship emphasizing Jesus' ability to provide abundantly, using the story of the feeding of the 5,000 as an example. Despite initial doubts from the disciples, Jesus demonstrates his abundance by not only satisfying the crowd's hunger but also providing a surplus. We are encouraged to adopt an abundant mindset in stewardship, trusting in God's provision and seeing potential even in perceived scarcity.
