The scriptures are full of beautiful images that can capture our imaginations. Using a journaling bible or a sheet of paper can help bring those images to life whether we draw our interpretation of the image or put ourselves in the story. In our third & final installment of the "Water & Wine" sermon series, Pastor Ben draws parallels between Doritos vs. healthier alternatives and the Biblical story of a woman seeking healing from Jesus to highlight the need for both physical and spiritual sustenance. He goes on to emphasize the importance of recognizing and addressing spiritual needs, particularly through the sacrament of communion, where believers encounter Jesus' presence and receive forgiveness and a strengthening of their faith. We should be echoing Peter's affirmation that Jesus alone offers eternal life, but as human beings we tend to look for other avenues to solve challenges, instead of coming directly to God. However, we need to make the Lord's Supper the center of our spiritual practice, and we need to come here to the only place that can provide with what we need to navigate life in this world. Echoing the words of Peter, where else are we going to go? God wants us to come to him and look for him, and he's promised that when you do every single time, he'll be present to be with us and sustain us.

We are in the third week of our "Water & Wine" series. This week, Pastor Jared explores Communion and Jesus' presence in the meal. After acknowledging the congregation's familiarity with Communion, he poses a question: does our familiarity lead with this sacrament lead us to overlook the miraculous nature of the meal?
Citing Martin Luther's teachings on communion, Pastor Jared emphasizes that believers are not meant to fully understand the mechanics of how Christ's body is present in the bread. Instead, they are called to trust and have faith in the words of Jesus regarding the meal. Luther's perspective is presented as a reminder that the focus should be on the truth of Christ's real presence rather than trying to dissect the "how."
The sermon concludes by highlighting the profound implications of Jesus' physical presence in the Lord's Supper & encourages those listening to run to the altar when seeking closeness to Jesus.

We continue with our "Water & Wine" sermon series, which explores the significance of baptism and the Lord's Supper in the context of God's gifts to believers. In "Spirit Given Siblings," Pastor Ben delves into the changed identity of believers, who through the transformative nature of baptism are now considered children of God and heirs of eternal life. As believers, we are called to bear one another's burdens, and shift our focus from self-centeredness to a communal perspective within God's family. A communal prospective includes active engagement in relationships, offering support and love to fellow members of God's family, thereby reflecting the love of Christ to the world in response to the brokenness found in earthly relationships.
